Dear President Helen and all the Members of The Rotary Club of New York

From a City which has also experienced acts of insane terrorism, we send our
heartfelt sympathy at what has happened in New York today.  We know that
many thousands of lives have been destroyed and we pray that you will all be
given the strength to overcome and to rise up all the stronger because of
this terrible experience.

Every Member of the Rotary Club of Manchester, wishes you to know that we
are thinking about you and praying for deeper international understanding
and lasting peace for all of you.

Ernest Johnstone
President

Fellow Rotarians,

I never thought I would ever have to witness such scenes of devastation again in my life, after having lived in England through World War ll.

My heart goes out to the thousands of people in America who have been touched by the loss of family and friends who died in the mayhem following the cowardly terrorist attacks yesterday on innocent civilians.

My hope is that those who perpetrated these acts of inhumane evil should be brought to justice and that we might rid this world of ours of these fanatics who have no respect for human life.

I send the deep condolences of all the Rotarians in my District, 1180 to all the relatives of those who lost loved ones.

John Astles DG 1180

Dear Matts

Glasgow seems a long way away but acts like this show us what a small place
the world is.
On behalf of The Glasgow Club I would express our heartfelt sympathy to you
all. Our hearts and feelings are with you at this dreadful time and you
will be remembered at our next meeting on Tuesday, which as it happens will
coincide with the time of the tragedy.

Yours in Rotary,

Andrew Fulford

President, The Rotary Club of Glasgow

Matts

We have been watching in awe as the tragic events unfold before our eyes.

Our prayers are with you

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Belfast we would like you to know that you
are in our thoughts and prayers at this traumatic time
Please convey our sympathies and condolences to all our colleagues and

PS I was in the WTC in May of this year and fully comprehend the scale and
the logistics - which makes it even more poignant

May I with a great sense of disbelief, and sadness send our heartfelt fraternal greetings to you, your Club members, and all those in your great city. It seem that the word evil is not strong enough for this event.

As it happens I am at home recovering from major surgery, and I watched the events unfold in disbelief...my TV  under a very large print of the twin towers of the World Trade Centre! A souvenir of a wonderful holiday six or seven years ago.

On behalf of President Trevor and all our members...just call us if there is anything we can do from this side of the pond. You are in our thoughts.

Yours in Rotary,

Michael Fagan (secretary

Dear President Helen,
We held our monthly club council meeting last night. We were all
in a state of shock over the terrible events of yesterday. We cannot
have any idea of the pain and suffering of so many people in your
district. Please accept our condolences, we will be thinking of all
those families effected directly and indirectly for years to come and
they are in our prayers.
There may be some way in which we can help, if so please inform

Dear Rotarians,

District 7230, called the Atlantic Bridge, and we built up many friendships
through our various Clubs.

We would like you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at
this time.

Yours sincerely,

Des Willars.

Dear Matts

I have just received your e-mail via our District 1260 International
Chairman. I am a past president of my club Aylesbury Hundreds (some 30 miles
from London).  At this time I am unsure how or in what way we can help but
will await further notifications.

However I felt I just had to reply to let you know that at this tragic time
for New York and indeed America my thoughts and that of my fellow Rotarians
are with you.  I have a good friend who lives in Philadelphia and a couple
of years ago whilst visiting him with my family I spent two days in New
York.  We visited all the sites including going up the twin towers.  I found
New York to be a vibrant city full of life and full of heart and character.
It is in my opinion the last two traits which in time will help New York to
come to terms with and move forward from the tragic events of September 11
2002.

Remember you are not alone as you say Rotary is a great fellowship

Dear Matts

My wife and I had a marvellous week in New York -Easter 1994- and visited the World Trade Center on a beautiful sunny, crisp and cloudless morning. the building had just about returned to normal after the atrocity of 1993. My mind was immediately taken back to this when I first heard the terrible news on Tuesday.

My thoughts go out to all of you over there, Rotarians and non- Rotarians, and we wait to see what we can do to help.

Yours in Rotary

John Stansfield

IPDG  Dist 1040 UK

I would like to use this e-mail to express my club's deep shock and horror of what we have seen on our screens today and to say that please accept our clubs condolences at this terrible time - please extend this to all the clubs of New York City - Our thoughts are with you all and if there is anything anything at all that you feel we can do then please do not hesitate to contact us - even contacting or helping stranded people this side of the Atlantic - please contact us.

I know that this will be an e-mail amongst thousands but it will not lessen what we are all feeling.

Yours in Rotary
