   Message from D6060 Governor Bill Schuck:

MISSOURI ROTARIANS FOR NEW YORK
 

All Rotary Clubs in Missouri have united in a fund raising effort in behalf of  the New York victims. Our goal is to raise in excess of $100,000.  I am asking all Rotarians to act swiftly, aggressively and with the desire to truly MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
 

I would like to ask each Rotarian and every Rotary Club to make a donation to provide assistance for those unfortunate people in New York.
 

I would also suggest the assignment of a committee chairperson responsible for activating a soliciting committee immediately. Some suggestions may be:

bulletThose that own retail businesses give your customers the opportunity to donate by placing a container with a Rotary logo on your counter.
bulletSet up teams to canvas communities for donations  from neighbors, relatives, businesses and friends.
bulletIf you have club projects requiring the soliciting of businesses for donations, use this approach and assignments to contact businesses in your town.
bulletCall local media in ref to a press release indicating your Rotary Club will accept tax deductible donations.
bulletAsk Rotarians to wear Rotary apparel or lapel pins for identification
 
As a side note the creation of this committee and or project will also satisfy one of the clubs requirements for a Presidential Citation.

Please make all tax deductible checks payable to New York Rotary Foundation. Send all donations to me by mail before 10-15-01. The three districts in Missouri will then submit one payment to them with a state wide press release.

This will give every Rotarian and every Rotary Club a purpose and ability to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. 
 We MUST move quickly to show the world MANKIND IS OUR BUSINESS.

During Foundation Day on December 4, the Missouri District Governors Bill Schuck, District 6060 and Larry Lunsford, District 6040 presented a check of  $97,839.15 for the WTC Disaster Relief Fund to our President Helen Reisler and Chairman of the New York Rotary Foundation Werner Kobelt. The funds raised for the New York Rotary Foundation came from all three districts in Missouri. DG Jerry Franklin of D6080 was unable to attend the presentation in New York.  We are very touched by the great generosity of the Missouri Rotarians.
